Review/Optimize Your Supply Chain

  • Review your supplier list and identify where consolidation could occur
  • Review your order/delivery cycles- optimizing your order quantities will reduce time, labor, and potentially provide better overall costs (reduced time to put away, inventory and labor). Remember, as a Premier Member you may be eligible to earn the Drop Size Incentive.
  • Evaluate your use of commodity items and look for a low-cost alternative or brand
    • Pastas, Rice, Canned Fruits and Vegetables, Disposables, Frozen Fruits and Vegetables, Breads or Doughs, Flour, Sugar, Grains, Proteins etc.
  • Buy in Bulk if possible (less packaging more product)
  • Move away from portion packed items - they are higher cost due to packaging
  • If you are not already a Premier member, consider joining Group Purchasing Organization PREMIER to help reduce your overall food cost
  • If you are already a Premier member:
    • Maximize use of CMA products for ingredients to see lower prices directly on your invoices
    • Maximize the incentives available only for Premier members through US Foods
    • Utilize the CMA Team, the USF Account Manager and Account Executive to identify lower cost options and review rebate opportunities
    • Take advantage of manufacturer rebates posted on the Promotions Page of the PINC AI (formerly Premier Connect) Foodservice Community Site
    • Review alternative items recommended in FSDO for cost advantages
